This is a follow-up to last week’s blog post. Another term new to me, “Widow in Waiting,” refers to women whose husbands are experiencing a terminal illness. The women are anticipating his death, navigating the emotional, financial and practical aspects of their new life as a widow in waiting.
My husband was in the ICU for 53 days. In the hospital, 8 1/2 months. I truly believed that he would survive (because doctors insisted that he would make a 100% recovery). I spent 8 to 10 hours a day, 5 days a week, at the hospital. Every Friday, I would pack a bag and stay until Sunday. Every time I left him, I would cry on the drive home.
Share your story and how you managed such a stressful time.
Just like everything else in life, one day at a time.
