What is friendship? I think sometimes we get confused between the words friend and acquaintance. Friend is defined as a close personal relationship and intimacy between two people (not sexual), but a feeling of trust, empathy, and selflessness. “Friend” will usually indicate that you would spend some of your personal time with the person outside of the context in which you met them.
An acquaintance is usually used when you wish to indicate that you know a person in a nonprofessional setting, but do not spend time with them recreationally.
Grief has connected seven widows into “friends.” Grief was and is the feeling that permeates the Merry Widows group. It brought us together as a family. It holds us together because of our ability to share those feelings of grief and all the other problems that surface when we are alone. Please don’t wallow in self-pity because you’re alone. Take a leap and find a friend, develop that bond, share those feelings, and begin to feel whole again.
