Roxie wouldn’t eat, so I took her back to the vet. The vet (Nate) decided to do a sonogram. He came back and said Roxie had cancer of the spleen. A tumor the size of a softball, and she was bleeding internally. A very aggressive cancer. He said, “Take her home for a couple of days and spoil her, treat her like a queen.” We spent three days together. I held her and told her what she meant to me, and how much I loved her. I could not watch her go through any pain. She was the best dog.
On Thursday, July 10th, nine years to the day I adopted her, I put her to sleep. My daughter (Patty), my granddaughter (Cortney), and my grandson (Cody) were with me. My grandson (Dylan) and his girlfriend (Laiken) generously paid for Roxie’s last visit. Thank you for the support. I love you, Roxie. I will never forget you. You rescued me. My heart hurts. 💔
