Finding You

Grief can sometimes be described as the loss of something, the loss of someone important in our lives, or the loss of a job, house/home, etc. Grief disrupts our sense of normalcy and can lead to feelings of insecurity and loss of control, which are common triggers for anxiety. It has been my experience that anxiety is a common experience felt during the grieving process.

Here are some of the strategies that I used to combat grief-induced anxiety:

  1. Educate yourself
  1. Stay positive and practice saying, I can and yes to activities, events, etc.
  1. Exercise on a regular basis
  1. Sleep (at least 7-8 hours)
  1. Eat a well-balanced diet (haha who can do that when you’re upset?)
  1. Teach yourself how to RELAX
  1. Above all, BE PATIENT with yourself… sounds so easy, well it’s not!

There are many other strategies. These have worked for me. Do your research. Try one thing at a time, for at least 15 days, and see what works for you. It’s up to you, but you must take the first step. My advice… just do it.
