Family Friction

I was just thinking about family, mainly because my dear friend was having a problem (wedding bell blues). I feel that family is all about unconditional love. Obviously, we don’t always see eye to eye. There are disappointments, disagreements, tears of both joy and sorrow, and sometimes an unwillingness to forgive and forget. I strongly feel that when there is strife in a family, all these feelings need to be brought to the surface and discussed in order to keep the family unit together.

That’s where parents come in. I feel a parent’s job is to understand and teach that a family is about being there for each other, no matter how we feel, how angry we are. We, as parents, need to remind our children about family. There will always be cracks in our family mirror that reflect our imperfections, but love always shines through. Family is about being there for each other, no matter what! Put down your guard, hug your family member, say I love you, forgive and forget…. because no one is guaranteed tomorrow, so make the most of today. 💖
